Light Fantastic

In Science this term we are focusing on light. We individually collected our thoughts to the following 5 questions:

- What things give us light?
- How does light help us to see?
- What is a shadow?
- How far does light travel?
- How does light travel?

In groups we categorised and summarised the class responses.
We have posted our 'wonderings' on our classroom blog below.
Have a look to see what we came up with.

The Great Egg Drop

In room 8 we have been working on getting along and working as a team. On Friday we participated in the ‘Great Egg drop’. The group worked to create something to protect the egg from breaking when dropped from 2 meters high.
We only had 30 straws and some masking tape to complete our mission, we wouldn’t have succeeded if we didn’t work together, so we learnt to listen to each others ideas and together we found the best way to protect the egg. Some groups used a lot of masking tape and straws to protect their egg, unfortunately most groups were not successful and ended up with scrambled eggs! Sarah and Vaishnavi, Alen and Shane, Jonathan and Andy and Tien and Jessie were the only groups to keep their eggs safe. We enjoyed working with our partners; room 8 is a great team.

Hi Everyone

Hi guys and girls,
We are room 8, we have 17 students in our class this year, 6 girls and 11 boys. We love to go outside for PE, and use the computers.
During the first two weeks of school we worked on the Flying Start program and learnt about working as a team and being organised and responsible for our own learning. We are Kool kids.
This term we are working on a science unit called Light Fantastic with Miss Gillis and Steph. Our classes will be working together and sharing our work through our blogs.
We are looking forward to a great year, make sure you check our blog for photos of our work.
